Spiegelberg Technology: precision monitoring in Neurology

Established in 1986 in Hamburg  by engineer Dr Andreas Spiegelberg, the company pioneered accurate, drift-free intracranial pressure monitoring which has remained a gold-standard ever since.  Spiegelberg is now an international company supplying devices to over 60 countries and specialising in 'technology for brains'. They place great importance on patient care and customer satisfaction.

Spiegelberg meticulously designs and manufactures ICP monitors, ICP probes, catheters and EVD kits, and IAP catheters. Their products use the prize winning 'Silverline' technology which employs nanoparticulate silver impregnation to help reduce colonisation and subsequent infection in patients. Their Bolt EVD is particularly effective; clinical evidence shows several benefits over conventional, tunnelled EVD types.

The Spiegelberg ICP system detects minute pressure changes in the tissue of the brain, transmitted along a catheter to a precision sensor in the bedside monitor. Recalibration once an hour ensures the vital accuracy required when logging intracranial pressure measurements with the readings always referenced back to atmospheric pressure so that cumulative longer term errors do not creep in.
